Barry Polzin of Barry J. Polzin Architects Inc. is a registered architect in the State of Michigan, State of Wisconsin and State of Indiana.  The company was founded in 1984 in Marquette. In 1991 it was merged with U.P. Engineering of Houghton. In 1997 the firm was reestablished as a sole proprietorship to better provide more professional design oriented architectural services. Since 1997 the firm has been involved in a number of significant projects throughout the Midwest.

Our fundamental design approach begins with examining the context of a given project location to gain a sense and an understanding of the “place.”  Designs respond to the locale’s history, environment and social elements.  Project designs are formed to create a full human experience.  The spaces generated aptly envelop the occupants with the “feel” desired while providing for their functional needs.  We incorporate the concepts of sustainable design, which by their nature make for healthier and more dynamic environments.  In working with additions to existing buildings we work with the existing buildings design vocabulary to create a seamless whole building with the completion of the addition.
